Digipack - premium packaging for a physical release
With streaming everywhere, physical media has come back as a premium product for collectors. The digipack is the industry standard: a folding card pack with a plastic tray for the disc. It stands out for print quality, elegant lamination and the artistic room it gives you (panels that open out like a gatefold).
Digipack configurations
- Digipack 4P - 4 panels (2 folds plus a tray), room for one CD or DVD.
- Digipack 6P - 6 panels, two trays or one tray plus room for a 16-32 page booklet.
- Digipack 8P - 8 panels, two trays plus a larger booklet, the premium format for a deluxe edition.
- Digipack A5 - a larger format, when the artwork and the text need more surface.
- Ecopack 4P ECO - a Kraftliner version with no plastic tray, for brands with an eco policy.
Board and printing
- GC1 300 gsm board with a white back - rigid, with clean creases; the white back does not show through the print.
- CMYK offset printing - the full colour range.
- Printing plus 1-5 Pantone colours - the answer when a brand has a specific colour (Pantone 186 red, for example).
Finishing
- Soft-touch lamination (velvety to the touch, deepens dark colours)
- Matt lamination (elegant, non-reflective look)
- Gloss lamination (brings out colour and depth)
Booklet and tray
The booklet goes into one of the panels under the tray. It is printed on 100-130 gsm offset paper. Trays available: black or clear, classic or slim.
Lead time
Typically 3-7 working days from the start of production, depending on the product. The calculator on the product page shows the exact lead time for the options you pick - finishing or personalisation can extend it. Production starts once we have everything: a correct file, your approval of the proof where required, the payment recorded, and for disc replication and duplication the source material delivered.

What does digipack 4P / 6P / 8P mean?
The number refers to the panels - the sections of board in the folding pack. 4P = 2 folds plus a tray (the pocket for the disc). 6P = 3 folds. 8P = 4 folds. The more panels, the more room for artwork and for a booklet.
Can I slide a booklet into a digipack?
Yes - depending on the construction we can slide a booklet (4-32 pages) into one of the panels under the tray. The booklet is printed on 100-130 gsm offset paper, stapled or glued depending on its thickness.
What is the minimum print run?
It depends on the type of packaging: the smallest start at 25 pieces, most at 50, and the eight-panel digipack at 100. On larger runs the unit price drops noticeably. The calculator gives the minimum for the configuration you choose.
Do you print digipacks for audiobooks and spoken word?
Yes - for audio publishers a 4P or 6P digipack with a booklet is the standard. You can choose the version with a pocket or the one with a slot for the booklet.
Do you have your own cutting dies?
Yes, we have standard dies for digipack 4P, 6P, 8P and A5, plus versions with a pocket or a slot for the booklet and versions for 2 and 3 discs. For non-standard formats we cut a die for the project - we state the one-off cost in an individual quote.
