Eco hang tags - EKO swing tags are die-cut tags and labels printed on natural papers with a distinctive colour and texture. They suit clothing, jewellery, handmade goods, gifts and much else. You can choose from 21 shapes, 8 EKO papers from the Kraftliner, Kazan and Flora ranges, and single or double-sided printing. No lamination, because here the paper itself matters most: its colour, its surface and its feel. You can price your run straight away in the online calculator.

What EKO swing tags are

EKO swing tags are small hanging tags and product labels made on papers with a natural, eco-friendly character. They help mark the product, pass on the information the customer needs and keep the range organised, and they round out brands built on a calm, natural or craft-like style.

The biggest difference between an EKO tag and the classic version is the paper. Here it is not just a neutral background for the print but part of the whole design. Its shade, texture and surface are visible and can be felt the moment the tag is picked up. That is why tags like these suit eco, handmade, local, cosmetic and jewellery brands with a natural style.

Die-cut shapes

We cut EKO tags with a cutting die. Each version therefore has a defined, repeatable shape and, where the use calls for it, a hole or a suitable slit.

There are 21 die-cut patterns to choose from, the same as for the classic tags. They fall into a few basic groups:

  • small and round (A01, A02, A03, B13) - small tags for jewellery, candles, cosmetics, handmade goods and little gifts,
  • product tags, series B (B01-B14, rectangular, about 50×85 - 70×105 mm) - more room for a logo, description, price, composition, QR code or barcode; they work well on clothing, accessories and gift sets,
  • jewellery (B15) - an elongated version made for presenting jewellery,
  • for earrings (B16, B17) - designed for displaying and holding earrings,
  • heart (B18) - a decorative shape that suits gift, wedding, Valentine's and floristry products.

You will find the full list of shapes with dimensions in the online calculator. In the same place you choose the paper, the printing and the run size you need.

Where EKO tags work

EKO tags can be used anywhere a product needs marking, a short description or an attractive tag in a natural style. Most often they go on:

  • clothing, in boutiques and slow fashion brands, with the size, composition, price or care instructions,
  • jewellery, earrings and own-design collections,
  • handmade goods, ceramics, macramé, candles and cosmetics,
  • gifts, bouquets, packaging, paper bags and boxes,
  • local products, promotional sets and online sales.

One small tag can do several jobs at once. It can be a classic hanging label with a logo and price, a small product card, a gift note, a marking for a particular collection or the place for a QR code leading to the shop, further information or reviews.

EKO papers and their character

We print EKO tags on eight papers with a natural or decorative character. The versions differ in shade, texture and the way the print looks on them. It is worth matching the paper not only to the design but also to the character of the product.

  • Kraftliner 300 gsm - distinctly kraft and rustic. It looks good with strong contrast, dark printing and simple typography.
  • Kazan ecru 250 gsm with grass fibre and Kazan ecru 300 gsm with grass fibre - warm, natural papers with visible grass specks. The 300 gsm version is stiffer and more distinguished.
  • Flora Avorio 240 gsm - a light, delicate paper with an elegant character. It combines a natural surface with a calm style.
  • Flora Giglio 240 gsm and Flora Giglio 350 gsm - light, versatile versions on which the design stays easy to read. Flora Giglio 350 gsm feels noticeably more solid.
  • Flora Tabacco 240 gsm and Flora Tabacco 350 gsm - darker, bolder papers that suit kraft, artistic, boutique and premium designs.

On the darker stocks contrast matters especially. Larger letters, simple artwork and clearly designed QR codes work well.

Single and double-sided printing

EKO tags can be printed on one side or on both.

The single-sided version is enough for a simple design where all the information needed fits on one side. That might be a logo, the product name, the price, a QR code or a short description.

With more data it is better to use both sides. The front can be more about image, with the logo, artwork or the name of the brand or collection. The back can take the price, composition, size, product code, care instructions, a barcode, social media details, a website address or a short thank-you to the customer.

A natural effect instead of film

We do not laminate EKO tags. That is deliberate in this version of the product, because an extra coating would hide the natural qualities of the paper chosen.

What counts here above all is the stock itself: its colour, texture, weight and surface. Well chosen typography and a legible print complete it.

Leaving off the lamination keeps the tag looking natural and less technical. That goes well with handmade, local, eco, rustic, cosmetic and gift products, where the character of the material matters a great deal.

At the same time you have to allow for the effect of the paper colour on the print. On kraft, ecru and darker stocks the colours can be warmer, more muted and less intense than on white coated paper. In the design it is better to avoid weak contrast, very thin lines and small light text on the darker papers.

What to put on an EKO tag

On an EKO tag you can put:

  • the brand logo and the name of the company, product or collection,
  • the price, size, composition and care instructions,
  • the product code, batch number, barcode and QR code,
  • the website address, social media and contact details,
  • a "handmade" or "eco" marking, the brand slogan or a short story about the product,
  • space for a stamp, pictograms or botanical motifs.

When designing a product tag it is worth separating the image side from the practical information. The logo and brand name can be a strong element of the design, but the price, the QR code and the barcode have above all to stay legible.

File preparation - the die, the holes, the check

The design is best prepared as a PDF that follows our specification, in CMYK and at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale.

If the artwork runs to the edge, prepare the right amount of bleed. Logos, text and the other important elements of the design have to be moved away from the edges, the holes, the slits and the lines of the die so that they are not cut into during die-cutting.

With unusual shapes, such as round, jewellery, earring or heart-shaped tags, it is best to work on the right cutting die. The content should be laid out so that it does not clash with the holes, the slits or the places meant for displaying the product.

On the smallest tags it is better to limit the amount of information. Very small fonts or small QR codes can turn out hard to read once printed. If there is more content, a larger format or double-sided printing is the more sensible answer.

When you place the order you choose one of three file preparation options:

  • No file check - for agencies, designers and anyone confident the design is technically correct. The file goes into production without further control.
  • File check by a designer - we check the technical preparation of the design, including the format, bleed, safe distances and colours, and on EKO tags also the shape, the die, the holes, the placement of the print and the contrast on natural paper. This option works well for designs made in Canva, online generators or AI tools. The check does not cover whether the content is correct. Prices, compositions, codes and other details are the customer's responsibility.
  • Simple graphic design - if you have no file ready, send us your logo, the text and the product details. We will prepare a simple design matched to the shape, EKO paper and printing you chose.
FAQ

Eco hang tags - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

What are EKO swing tags?

They are die-cut hanging tags and product labels printed on papers with a natural, eco-friendly character. You can use them to mark clothing, jewellery, handmade goods, candles, cosmetics, gifts or packaging. The distinctive part of a tag like this is the paper itself, its colour, texture and surface.

Are the EKO tag shapes the same as in the classic version?

Yes. The same 21 die-cut patterns are available: small and round A01, A02, A03 and B13, product tags from the B01-B14 series, jewellery tag B15, the earring versions B16 and B17, and the heart-shaped tag B18. You will find the full list with dimensions in the calculator.

Which EKO papers are available?

There are eight versions: Kraftliner 300 gsm, Kazan ecru 250 gsm with grass fibre, Kazan ecru 300 gsm with grass fibre, Flora Avorio 240 gsm, Flora Giglio 240 gsm, Flora Tabacco 240 gsm, Flora Giglio 350 gsm and Flora Tabacco 350 gsm.

Which EKO paper should I choose?

Kraftliner 300 gsm suits a kraft, rustic and handmade style. Kazan with grass fibre works on products with a natural, eco character. Flora Avorio and Flora Giglio are lighter and more elegant, while Flora Tabacco has a darker, bolder surface.

Are EKO tags laminated?

No. In the EKO version we use no film or other coating. That is deliberate, because the main element of the tag is the natural paper, its colour, texture, weight and feel. That effect suits EKO and handmade brands and products in a rustic style.

Does the colour of the paper affect the print?

Yes. Natural papers have a shade of their own, so the print can look different on them than on white coated paper. The colours tend to be warmer, calmer and less intense. That is why it is worth using clear contrast, legible typography and text that is large enough.

Can EKO tags be printed on both sides?

Yes. Single-sided and double-sided printing are both available. With both sides printed, the front can carry the logo or artwork, and the back the price, composition, size, a QR code, a barcode or care instructions.

Are EKO tags suitable for clothing?

Yes. They can be used on clothing, in boutiques, showrooms, online shops, seasonal collections and slow fashion brands. Natural papers go well with linen, cotton and hand-sewn items.

Do EKO tags suit jewellery?

Yes. Jewellery tag B15 and the earring versions B16 and B17 are available. Natural papers work well with handmade jewellery, own-design collections and brands in a calm style.

Can a QR code go on an EKO tag?

Yes. A QR code can lead to the product page, an online shop, instructions, a catalogue, social media or a review page. It should be a suitable size and have good contrast, especially on the darker natural papers.

Can a barcode go on the tag?

Yes. A barcode can go on the tag, but it needs the right size, contrast and quality so that it can be scanned properly once printed. On the smaller formats you have to allow enough room for it.

Do I have to use a cutting die?

Yes. With die-cut tags the design is best prepared using the right template or cutting die. You have to allow for the cutting lines, the holes, the slits and the rounded corners, and keep important elements a safe distance from the edge.

Can I prepare the design in Canva?

Yes, but in that case it is worth choosing the check by a designer. Designs made in Canva, online generators, office programs or AI tools may need checking and adjusting for the die, the bleed, CMYK, the resolution and the contrast on the EKO paper chosen.

Do I have to watch small text on EKO tags?

Yes. On the small formats especially, the price, the QR code, the barcode and the product number should be a suitable size and have good contrast. If there is a lot of information, it is better to choose a larger tag or use double-sided printing.

Does the file check cover prices, compositions and codes?

No. The designer checks the technical preparation of the file for print, but not the content, such as prices, compositions, care instructions, QR codes, barcodes, numbers, typos or legal markings. The customer is responsible for the accuracy of all that data.
