COSMO Soft Rubber metal pens - product details

COSMO Soft Rubber metal pens - A version of our most popular pen, the COSMO, with a rubberised barrel finish. The surface gives a firmer grip than a classic smooth barrel. Five colours to choose from, with laser engraving on one or two sides. Minimum order 100 pieces.

COSMO Soft Rubber - a familiar shape, a different finish

The COSMO is the pen customers choose most often. The Soft Rubber version keeps its familiar shape but adds a rubberised barrel finish. Instead of a smooth surface you get a body that holds better between the fingers. The difference is noticeable straight away while writing - especially when taking notes quickly, or with cold or slightly damp hands.

The model comes in five colours: black, red, blue, orange and dark green. That is fewer than the classic COSMO, which offers a considerably wider palette. If a particular, less common shade matters most, the standard COSMO gives more choice. On the Soft Rubber the point is the rubberised finish and the more comfortable grip.

Dimensions and engraving field

The COSMO Soft Rubber is 135 mm long and 10 mm across - exactly the same dimensions as the classic COSMO. The difference is the marking surface. On the Soft Rubber version the engraving field is 40.0×3.5 mm, against 65.0×6.0 mm on the classic COSMO.

That is a real constraint worth planning for. A logo with a short company name will fit; a longer name with a web address on the same side will not. If you need more room, take the classic COSMO or another model with a larger field - or split the content across two sides.

Where the COSMO Soft Rubber works

  • Everyday writing - the grip tells most for people who write a lot by hand.
  • Conferences and training - handed out with the materials and usually kept afterwards.
  • Reception and service desks - a branded pen that is comfortable to sign with.
  • Field staff - a firmer grip helps when notes are taken standing up or in the cold.
  • Simple marks - a logo or short name, where a large marking field is not needed.

Laser engraving

The laser removes the top layer of the surface and exposes the lighter material beneath. Nothing is applied on top, so there is no ink to peel or rub away - the mark is part of the barrel and lasts as long as the pen.

Engraving is single-colour: the laser exposes the material rather than printing colour, so a multi-colour logo appears in one tone. On darker barrels the contrast is stronger.

One side or two

In the calculator, under "Marking", choose "One-sided engraving" or "Two-sided engraving". With a 40.0×3.5 mm field, two sides are worth considering sooner than on other models: instead of squeezing a logo and contact details into one small area, each gets its own. The two-sided version costs more; the difference shows in the calculator.

The engraving file and free design work

Send finished artwork as a vector PDF in black only, with text converted to curves. Everything black will be engraved. Avoid photographs and greyscale - engraving does not reproduce halftones.

With a field this size, simplicity matters more than usual. Fine lines and small type lose legibility quickly once scaled down; a plain mark and a legible name work better than trying to keep every detail.

No artwork ready? With an order placed with us we prepare it free of charge. E-mail your logo and the text for the pen; our designer will send a proof for approval, and production starts once you accept it.

FAQ

COSMO Soft Rubber metal pens - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

How does the COSMO Soft Rubber differ from the standard COSMO?

It keeps the same shape and the same 135 mm × 10 mm dimensions, but the barrel has a rubberised finish instead of a smooth one. Two other things follow: the palette is smaller - five colours against the classic COSMO's much wider range - and the engraving field is 40.0×3.5 mm instead of 65.0×6.0 mm.

What does Soft Rubber in the name mean?

A rubberised finish on the surface of the pen. The barrel slips less in the hand and gives a firmer grip while writing. The difference is particularly noticeable over longer note-taking, or when your hands are cold or damp.

What colours is it available in?

Five: black, red, blue, orange and dark green.

Why are there fewer colours than on the standard COSMO?

That is the palette prepared for this version. The classic COSMO has the widest choice of colours in our range; the Soft Rubber trades some of that for the rubberised finish. If a particular shade matters most, the standard COSMO gives more options.

What are the dimensions of this model?

135 mm long and 10 mm across - exactly the same as the classic COSMO.

How large is the engraving field?

40.0×3.5 mm, against 65.0×6.0 mm on the classic COSMO. A logo with a short company name fits; a longer name with a web address on the same side will not. If you need more room, choose the classic COSMO or split the content across two sides.

Does engraving hold on a rubberised finish?

Yes. The laser removes the top layer of the surface and exposes the material beneath, so the mark becomes part of the barrel rather than a layer applied to it. There is nothing to peel away.

Can the engraving be in colour?

No. The laser applies no ink, so the mark is always single-colour, however many colours the original logo uses.

Can it be engraved on both sides?

Yes. With a field of 40.0×3.5 mm, two sides are worth considering sooner than on other models: a logo on one, contact details on the other, instead of squeezing both into one small area. The two-sided version costs more; the difference shows in the calculator.

What is the minimum quantity?

100 pieces, in multiples of 50. The price steps in the calculator are 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000 and 2000 pieces.

How long does production take?

The lead time appears in the calculator once you choose a configuration, counted from your approval of the proof. If the pens are needed for a specific date, order early or confirm the date with us by e-mail.

Is there an extra charge for the artwork?

No. With an order placed with us we prepare simple artwork free of charge. E-mail your logo and the text for the pen; we will send a proof for approval.

What file should I send the logo in?

A vector file in black, with text converted to curves. Engraving works on shapes, so avoid photographs and greyscale. With a small field, a simple mark works far better than one crowded with detail.

Will the rubberised finish not get damaged?

In normal everyday use it holds up well.

What colour is the refill?

Blue as standard. If you need a different colour, mention it with your order - we will check availability for this model and confirm before production.

What is the barrel made of?

Metal with a rubberised finish. Metal is why we mark it with a laser; plastic models are marked with full-colour UV printing instead.
