Twister USB drive - product details
Twister USB drive - A drive with a swivel cover over the USB connector, so it needs no separate cap. Available with USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 gen.1 and in capacities from 8 to 256 GB. Personalise it with full-colour UV printing or with laser engraving. A practical model for trade fairs, conferences, training sessions and larger promotional campaigns: turn the cover, use the drive, turn it back.
Pendrive Twister - a turn instead of a removable cap
On a classic drive the cap has to be pulled off and put somewhere every time. On the Twister there is no cap at all.
A metal cover rotates 360° around the memory module. In one position it protects the connector; turn it and the drive is ready to plug in.
That matters especially for items handed out in quantity. At a fair, a training day or a conference nobody watches a small cap - here there is no separate part to leave on a desk or lose in a bag.
The mechanism is built for frequent use and rated for at least 5000 turns.
Where it fits
Trade fairs and large events, for bigger runs handed to visitors; company training, carrying presentations, instructions, exercises and recordings that stay useful afterwards; field staff - sales, consultants and service teams keeping current price lists, catalogues and documentation to hand; roadshows and touring presentations, where the whole team gets the same set of files; and universities, schools and courses, as part of a welcome pack.
How the swivel works
The Twister is a memory module with a cover that rotates around it. Nothing has to be removed: turn the cover to expose the USB plug, turn it back when you are done.
The mechanism rotates through 360° and is rated for at least 5000 cycles - ample for repeated opening and closing in normal use.
Personalisation
Two marking methods are available.
UV printing keeps the full CMYK colour of your design: multi-colour logos, gradients, tonal transitions and richer graphics all work. The ink is cured with UV light during printing and the marking stands up to daily use, moisture and light. Depending on the version, one or both sides can be marked.
Laser engraving gives a durable single-colour result with no added layer of ink. It looks particularly good on metallic and darker covers: the laser exposes lighter material, so contrast is usually strongest against a dark background.
Preparing the engraving file
- a vector PDF or EPS,
- vector graphics only,
- monochrome artwork in black,
- no greyscale,
- no shadows or halftones,
- no bleed,
- text converted to curves.
The black elements mark the areas to be engraved.
Preparing the UV print file
- artwork in CMYK,
- file at 1:1 scale,
- photographs at 300-600 dpi,
- text converted to curves,
- 3 mm bleed if the particular marking template calls for it.
No artwork ready, or not sure yours is set up correctly? Send us your logo in the best quality you have - we prepare the marking design free of charge. You will see a proof to approve before production.
Capacities
The Twister has one of the widest capacity ranges we offer:
- 8 GB - presentations, an event programme and basic company material,
- 16 GB - larger document packs, photographs and light multimedia,
- 32 GB - training material, catalogues and film,
- 64 GB - extensive multimedia sets,
- 128 GB - larger archives and material libraries,
- 256 GB - large data sets and a portable archive for an employee.
A standard event pack rarely needs much capacity. But if the drive will be used regularly at work afterwards, 64, 128 or 256 GB can be far more practical.
USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 gen.1?
USB 2.0 covers documents, presentations, PDF files and other typical material handed out at events, and is the more economical option on a large run.
USB 3.2 gen.1 supports up to 5 Gb/s, so it is worth taking for film, large catalogues, archives and whenever the contents will be updated often.
Actual read and write speeds depend on the capacity, the memory used and the device the drive is plugged into.
Technical specification
- mechanism: 360° swivel, no removable cap,
- rated durability: at least 5000 cycles,
- interface: USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 gen.1,
- capacities: 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB,
- marking: UV printing or laser engraving,
- minimum order: depends on the capacity and interface chosen,
- lead time: shown by the calculator for your configuration.
The smallest configurations can start at 25 pieces, the usual minimum is 50 pieces, and on some versions - for example selected 8 GB memories with the faster interface - it can be 200 pieces. The calculator always shows the current minimum.
Preloading data
The Twister can be ordered with content already on it: presentations, documents, catalogues, film, training material, photographs or any other files supplied before production.
On orders above 200 pieces, loading a data set of up to 10 GB may be available at no extra charge. For larger volumes we agree terms individually.
Free graphic design
No artwork ready? With an order placed with us we prepare simple marking artwork free of charge.
Send your logo, preferably in vector form, along with any text that is to appear on the drive.
The first version usually comes within 1-2 working days; each further round of changes adds one working day. Production starts only once the proof is approved.
Twister USB drive - questions and answers
Need help? Contact us
How many cycles does the swivel mechanism last?
The Twister mechanism is rated for at least 5000 turns. Used a few times a day, that is several years of normal service - and there is no separate cap to pull off and put back each time.
Which capacities are available?
8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB. For presentations, documents and a light event pack, 8 or 16 GB is usually enough. Training material with video may need 32-64 GB, and for a larger archive it is worth considering 128 or 256 GB.
USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 gen.1 for the Twister?
If the drive will mainly carry documents, presentations and PDF files, USB 2.0 is usually sufficient and more economical on a large run. USB 3.2 gen.1 is worth taking for larger files, or when the contents will be changed regularly: the bus supports up to 5 Gb/s, so copying large data sets can be considerably faster. Real transfer speed also depends on the memory used and on the user's device.
What is the minimum quantity and the lead time?
The minimum depends on the capacity and the interface. The smallest configurations start at 25 pieces, many versions at 50 pieces, and on some capacities the minimum can be 200 pieces. The calculator shows the exact figure for your configuration and will not let you set a quantity below the available minimum. The lead time is shown there too, counted from the start of production.
Can Twisters be ordered with content already loaded?
Yes. We can copy the files you supply onto every drive before dispatch. On orders above 200 pieces, loading material totalling up to 10 GB may be available at no extra charge. For larger data sets we agree terms individually.
