TEK - a white barrel and full-colour printing

The TEK is a plastic pen made for one thing: carrying a colour logo well. Where our metal pens are engraved - and engraving is always single-colour - here the artwork goes on in full CMYK. Gradients, tonal transitions, several colours in one mark: all of it survives.

Dimensions and print area

The TEK is 142 mm long and 11 mm across. The print area is 50.0×6.0 mm.

The barrel and clip are white and opaque. Colour appears on the element under the clip and on the ring above the tip, which has a glossy finish. From a design point of view that is a convenient arrangement: the print lands on a calm white surface and does not have to compete with a strongly coloured barrel.

A 50 mm field takes a logo with the company name set beside it. Just remember the height is 6 mm: if there is a very small line under the symbol, it may stop being legible once scaled down. In that case our designer can move it next to the mark or propose a simpler arrangement - you will see it all on the proof before production.

Where the TEK works

• Multi-colour logos - full CMYK printing keeps brand colours that engraving would flatten.
• Larger promotional runs - made for handing out in quantity.
• Conferences and training - handed out with the materials and usually kept afterwards.
• Welcome sets and mailings - a light addition to a pack or a parcel.
• Campaigns with photographic or gradient artwork - printing reproduces what engraving cannot.

Full-colour UV printing

We mark the TEK with digital UV printing. The ink is cured with UV light during printing, so the finished mark handles everyday use and contact with moisture and light, and needs no varnishing afterwards.

Unlike laser engraving, printing is not limited to one colour: a logo with several colours, soft transitions or fine tonal detail comes out as designed.

One side or two

In the calculator you can choose one-sided or two-sided printing. One side usually covers a logo with the company name. The second is worth taking when you also want a web address, phone number or a short slogan, instead of crowding everything into one field.

Two-sided printing costs more, and the difference shows in the calculator. It also needs two separate designs, one per side.

The file, the artwork and the proof

Prepare finished artwork in colour, in CMYK, at 1:1 scale, with text converted to curves. For two-sided printing we need two separate designs, one for each side.

No artwork ready? With an order placed with us we prepare it free of charge. E-mail your logo and the text that is to appear on the pen. Our designer will lay it out and send a proof for approval; production starts only once you accept it.

Quantity and ordering

The minimum order is 100 pieces, produced in multiples of 50. The price steps in the calculator are 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000 and 2000 pieces, and the unit price falls as the quantity grows.

The lead time appears in the calculator once you choose a configuration, counted from your approval of the proof. The first version of the design usually comes within 1-2 working days; each further round of changes adds one working day.
