Graphic design service - product details
Graphic design service - Artwork for a cover, a digipak, an ecopak, a card sleeve or a CD print. This is an additional service to production you have ordered: you send the texts, photographs and logo, and we prepare a print-ready file matched to the chosen product and its technical requirements.
One place instead of a dozen separate items
Until now, artwork for each element of a release was ordered separately. One item covered the cover for a case, another a digipak, another the print on a CD.
Now everything is gathered into one product. When ordering you choose the disc or packaging, and we prepare the artwork on the right grid and in the right format.
We design graphics for:
- 4P and 6P digipaks, including the low two-fold version,
- the tall single-fold A5 digipak,
- 4P and 6P ecopaks and the tall A5 ecopak,
- card sleeves,
- printing on a CD,
- covers for CD-BOX, DVD and SLIM cases.
If you are planning an unusual release that is not on this list, we can prepare an individual quote.
The production itself is ordered separately in the relevant category - digipaks, discs or packaging. You add the artwork to the same order as an additional service.
What the case cover price covers
- Cover for a SLIM case - the price shown covers a four-page insert folded in half.
- Cover for a CD-BOX case - the price shown covers a set: a four-page insert folded in half and the inlay, the rear insert that goes under the tray.
Other options - booklet designs, for example - are priced individually.
Who this service is for
For someone who has the content and the idea but no finished production file.
You know what should go on the cover, you have photographs, a logo and a track list, but you do not work in a graphics program or do not know how to prepare artwork to a printer's requirements.
That is a perfectly normal situation. You do not have to know the rules of bleed, CMYK colour or fold lines yourself in order to order a finished release.
What you receive
The result is a file prepared for production, not just an attractive visualisation to look at on screen.
The artwork allows for, among other things:
- bleed, that is extra graphics running beyond the trim line, so that no white strip appears at the edge after cutting,
- CMYK colour, that is the four printing inks used in production,
- texts converted to outlines, so that the look of the letters does not depend on whether a particular font is installed on a computer or a production workstation,
- photographs prepared at a suitable resolution, measured in dpi, that is the number of dots per inch.
We also match the artwork to the actual die-cut, the fold lines, the safe margins and other requirements specific to the chosen product.
What you send us
The better the material we receive at the start, the more smoothly the actual design work can begin.
We mainly need:
- texts in a text file, written exactly as they are to appear in the finished artwork,
- photographs at the best possible original resolution, preferably straight from the photographer or the camera rather than downloaded from social media,
- a logo, preferably in a vector version, that is saved as outlines,
- a track list or table of contents in the final order,
- information about preferred colours, or examples of designs and releases whose style you like.
Files downloaded from Facebook, Instagram or other services are often heavily reduced and compressed, so they are not always suitable for good quality print afterwards.
Why artwork is made for a specific product
There is no single universal design that can be used unchanged on every pack.
A digipak has defined trim lines, folds and spines. Important lettering, logos or faces should not fall exactly where the board is folded.
A cover for a case has different proportions and dimensions than the same motif prepared for a digipak.
A CD print, in turn, has a central hole and its own print area, so the composition has to be laid out differently than on a rectangular cover.
That is why you choose a specific product when ordering. It is not a formality but the starting point for preparing the right grid for the whole design.
Approval before production
With discs and packaging you receive the finished artwork for checking before production starts.
On the preview it is worth reading all the texts carefully and checking names, titles, the track order and the remaining information.
Only after your approval does the artwork go into production.
This stage is compulsory, because once the press is running a finished run can no longer be corrected. If a name, a title or the track order is to change, approval is the last moment to say so.
Corrections
Corrections are a normal part of work on artwork, but their scope is not unlimited.
We agree the number of rounds and the scope of corrections when you order, so it is clear from the start how the work will proceed.
Fixing a typo, changing the text, the track order or swapping a photograph usually fits into the normal course of work.
If, however, the whole concept, style and layout change after the artwork has been prepared, that is in practice a new design and needs a separately agreed scope of work.
You already have artwork from a designer
If the artwork has already been made but you are not sure whether the file is suitable for production, check the file preparation section first.
You will find the technical requirements for the individual product groups there.
If finished material needs correcting - adding bleed, rebuilding the layout or adapting it to a particular die-cut - we can also work on the existing file. We agree the scope of such changes after looking at the material.
Preparing the content of the disc, including the track order and CD-Text, and a proof print are separate services.
How to place the whole order is described in the "How to order" section. For an unusual release, write to us through the formularz kontaktowy.
Graphic design service - questions and answers
Need help? Contact us
What do I have to send so that you can start the artwork?
Above all we need all the texts in a text file, written exactly as they are to appear in the finished release.
Include photographs at the best possible original resolution, and a logo, preferably in vector format, that is saved as outlines.
If the artwork is for a music release, send the track list in its final order. For other material that might be a table of contents or the order of the individual sections.
If you have particular colour preferences or examples of designs you like, it is worth sending them straight away.
Will you design a logo or company mark from scratch?
This service covers artwork for a specific element of a release - a cover, a digipak, an ecopak, a sleeve or a CD print.
Designing a whole logo or company mark from scratch is a different kind of work and we quote it individually.
Write to us through the contact form with exactly what you need, and we will agree the possible scope of work.
Will I receive the source files of the artwork?
As standard we hand over the print-ready file, that is the version intended directly for production.
If you also need an open source file for later changes on your side, mention it when ordering. We agree that possibility individually.
It is best discussed before the work starts, not after it is finished.
How many rounds of corrections are there?
We agree the scope and number of correction rounds when you order.
Typical corrections - fixing a typo, changing part of the text, the track order or swapping a photograph - are a natural part of work on artwork.
If, however, the whole concept changes after the artwork has been prepared and a completely new graphic version is needed, we treat that as a new design.
Does artwork for a 4P digipak also fit a 4P ecopak?
The graphic motif itself can be reused, but the layout has to be matched to the particular pack.
A digipak and an ecopak have different die-cuts, fold lines and ways of arranging the interior elements. Finished artwork should therefore not simply be moved 1:1 from one product to the other.
If you plan the same release in two packaging variants from the start, tell us before the work begins. We will then agree the scope of the whole job.
Is the disc print designed separately from the cover?
Yes. The disc print is a separate element of the artwork.
A disc has different proportions, a central hole and its own print area, so the layout has to be prepared specially for it.
You can of course order artwork for the cover and the disc print at the same time. In that case we keep the colours, typography and character of the graphics consistent, so that all the elements look like one series.
I already have artwork from another designer - what now?
First check the file preparation section and compare your material with the requirements for the particular product.
If the file is prepared correctly, there is no need to design everything from scratch.
If, however, bleed is missing, texts have not been converted to outlines, the artwork has the wrong dimensions or does not match the die-cut, we can adapt the existing material.
We agree the scope of the work after looking at the file.
What does approval before production look like?
Once the artwork for discs or packaging is ready, you receive a preview for approval.
On it, check above all the content, names, titles, the track order, dates and the other information that is to appear on the finished product.
We start production only after receiving your approval.
This is the last moment to report changes. Once printing has begun, the part of the run already produced cannot be corrected.
