COSMO SLIM metal pens - A slimmer version of our most popular pen, the COSMO. The barrel keeps the same 135 mm length, but measures ø 7 mm instead of ø 10 mm. The engraving area is 65.0×4.0 mm. Marked with YAG laser engraving; minimum order 100 pieces.
COSMO SLIM - same family, a barrel 3 mm narrower
The COSMO SLIM is the slimmer take on the classic COSMO. The styling and length stay the same: 135 mm of aluminium barrel. The key difference is obvious the moment you pick the pen up - ø 7 mm instead of ø 10 mm, so the barrel is 3 mm thinner.
In practice it writes quite differently. The SLIM feels lighter and more delicate, closer to a slender pencil. It draws less attention clipped into a notebook or tucked into a jacket pocket. Plenty of people prefer exactly this shape to the classic, thicker barrel.
A smaller diameter also means a narrower engraving field: 65.0×4.0 mm on the SLIM. The length is identical to the classic COSMO, but it is 2 mm shorter in height. A similar number of characters fits on one line, but the letters themselves have to be lower.
If you want a company name and web address on a single line, the SLIM handles it comfortably. For two lines, a vertical logo or a mark with a lot of fine detail, the classic COSMO with its 6 mm field gives more room.
Where the COSMO SLIM works best
- Welcome and conference sets - a slim pen looks good clipped into a notebook and takes little space in a folder of materials.
- Reception and meeting rooms - one company model on the counter or the conference table: discreet, but always in view.
- A gift for a business contact - a metal pen in a plain, restrained form, without excessive decoration.
- Office and paperwork - a thinner barrel can be more comfortable for people who write a lot and dislike thick pens.
- Trade fairs and training - a practical item handed out at a stand or with the materials, in a colour matched to your branding.
If you like the slim barrel but need a little more room for a longer line, look at the BOND. It has the same 135×7 mm dimensions, but an engraving area of 70.0×4.0 mm - 5 mm longer. You will recognise the BOND by the four rings in the lower part of the barrel. There is also a Touch Pen BOND with a tip for touchscreens.
YAG laser engraving - durable marking on a metal barrel
All our metal pens are marked with precise YAG laser engraving. The laser removes the layer of lacquer or anodising from the barrel and exposes the lighter metal beneath. No ink and no extra layer that could wear away later.
That makes the engraving very durable. It does not peel, does not rub off from carrying the pen in a pocket or bag, and does not come away in damp conditions. The mark is made directly in the surface of the barrel and stays there.
The technique has one limitation: engraving is single-colour. The laser does not print colour, it exposes metal, so even a multi-colour logo appears in one tone. On darker barrels the light trace gives strong contrast and reads very clearly; on light and silver barrels the effect is gentler and more muted.
With a field only 4 mm high, simplicity matters even more. Very fine lines, small ornaments and tiny type lose legibility faster than on a wider barrel. Often it is better to keep a simple mark and a legible name than to try to fit every detail of a logo. Our designer will choose a suitable arrangement and show it on a proof before production starts.
One side or two
In the calculator, under "Marking", you can choose "One-sided engraving" or "Two-sided engraving".
On a slim barrel the second side is particularly useful. The field is narrower, so instead of squeezing everything into one place you can split it: a logo on one side, a web address, phone number or short slogan on the other.
There is a practical benefit too. A pen lies on a desk one way up or the other, so two-sided marking improves the chance that one of the messages is visible.
Two-sided engraving costs more; you will see the difference as soon as you change the option in the calculator. With the order, simply say what should go on each side.
The engraving file and free design work
If you already have artwork, send it as a vector PDF in black only. Every black element will be engraved; the rest of the surface stays untouched.
Convert text to curves, so the typeface does not change when the file is opened on another computer. Do not use photographs or greyscale artwork - single-colour engraving cannot reproduce halftones properly.
No artwork ready? With an order placed with us we prepare it free of charge. E-mail your logo, preferably in vector form, along with the text that is to appear on the pen. Our designer will lay it out and send a proof for approval. Production begins only once you accept it.

Quantity and ordering
The minimum order is 100 pieces. The next price steps in the calculator are 200, 300, 500, 1000 and 2000 pieces. Runs are produced in multiples of 50, so entering 220, for example, makes the calculator round the order up to 250.

What are the dimensions of the COSMO SLIM?
The barrel measures 135×7 mm, with a diameter of ø 7 mm. The length is the same as the classic COSMO, but the barrel is 3 mm thinner. The pen is metal - aluminium.
How large is the engraving area on the SLIM?
The marking field is 65.0×4.0 mm. It is exactly as long as on the classic COSMO, but 2 mm lower because of the narrower barrel. Before production you will get a proof showing exactly how your logo and text are laid out.
How does the SLIM differ from the standard COSMO?
The key difference is barrel diameter: ø 10 mm on the COSMO, ø 7 mm on the COSMO SLIM. Both belong to the same styling family. The smaller diameter also means a narrower engraving field - 65.0×4.0 mm on the SLIM instead of 65.0×6.0 mm on the COSMO. The length of the field is the same, but on the classic COSMO the letters can be taller. The SLIM takes a standard replaceable refill; the COSMO uses a common, widely available size.
What fits in a field 4 mm high?
A company name and a web address on one line usually fit without trouble, since there are 65 mm of length to work with. It gets harder with two lines, or a logo containing many small elements - the text can simply end up too small. If you need a busier arrangement, the wider COSMO with its 6 mm field gives more room. Our designer will show you the proposed layout on a proof.
Does the SLIM come in the same colours as the COSMO?
No. The classic COSMO has the widest choice of colours in our whole range. The current colours for the COSMO SLIM are shown in the calculator. We do not list them here permanently, because the palette changes and some versions are occasionally unavailable.
Can the refill in the SLIM be replaced?
Yes. The refill is replaceable and standard for this model. When the ink runs out you simply change the refill, without throwing away the metal barrel - which is far more practical on a pen that can last a long time.
Can I order a black or red refill?
The pen comes with a blue refill as standard. Black or red can be fitted for an additional charge, but that option is not in the calculator. If you need a different colour, mention it with your order. We will check availability and confirm the terms before production starts.
Is there another slim model if I need a longer line of text?
Yes - look at the BOND. It has exactly the same 135×7 mm dimensions, but an engraving field of 70.0×4.0 mm, giving 5 mm more length. The BOND is easy to recognise by the four rings in the lower part of the barrel. A Touch Pen BOND version with a touchscreen tip is available as well.
Can the engraving be in my logo's colours?
No. YAG laser engraving applies no ink. The laser removes the top layer of lacquer or anodising and exposes the metal beneath, so the mark is always single-colour, however many colours the original logo uses.
Which barrel colour suits engraving best?
The strongest contrast usually comes from a darker barrel, where the light trace of exposed metal stands out clearly. On light and silver barrels the engraving is more subtle. With the narrow field of the COSMO SLIM, stronger contrast can further improve legibility, so it is worth bearing in mind when choosing a colour.
Will the engraving rub off or peel away?
No. The mark is not a print or an added layer. The laser removes part of the coating and exposes the metal, so the engraving becomes part of the barrel itself. Water will not wash it off and everyday carrying will not wear it away.
When is two-sided engraving worth it?
On a slim barrel, whenever you have more than one thing to say. Instead of squeezing everything into one field, put the logo on one side and a web address, phone number or short slogan on the other. A pen also turns over on a desk, so two-sided marking improves the chance one of the messages is visible. The two-sided version costs more; the difference shows in the calculator as soon as you change the option.
What format should the engraving file be in?
A vector PDF prepared in black only. Everything black will be engraved. Convert text to curves so the typeface does not change when the file is opened elsewhere. Avoid photographs and greyscale - single-colour engraving cannot reproduce halftones.

What is the minimum order and how is the lead time counted?
The minimum is 100 pieces, with further steps at 200, 300, 500, 1000 and 2000. Runs are produced in multiples of 50, so 220 is rounded up to 250. The lead time appears in the calculator once you choose the quantity and the type of marking, and is counted from your approval of the proof, not from the day of ordering.
My logo only exists as a JPG or PNG. Can it be engraved?
Engraving needs vector artwork, so a logo available only as a JPG or PNG has to be redrawn first. We can do that as a paid service, quoted individually - the cost depends mainly on how complex the mark is. Afterwards you get the logo in vector formats, usable on other materials too. Laying out the logo and text on the pen remains free of charge. Bear in mind the engraving goes onto a strip a few millimetres high, so very fine lines and small details can merge once scaled down.
My logo is vertical, with the name under the symbol. How will it come out?
With that arrangement it is worth checking legibility before ordering. The field is long but only a few millimetres high, so a symbol, company name and extra line stacked one above another all become very small once scaled down - and small text suffers first. A horizontal logo makes much better use of the space. If your brand book has one, send that version; if not, our designer can build a horizontal arrangement from the same elements or suggest what to leave out. You will see a proof before production either way.
