Folded business cards - product details

Live online pricingNo hidden fees

Folded business cards give more room for information while keeping the convenient 90×50 mm format of a classic card once closed. Opened out you get a 90×100 mm surface that can carry an extended description of your offer, a QR code, a small price list, space for stamps or appointment dates. The cards are creased, so they fold evenly at the intended place. We print them double-sided on Coated 350 gsm or elegant Invercote Creato 300 gsm board. You can choose no film, or gloss, matt or Soft Touch velvet film. The price for your chosen run is shown straight away in the calculator.

Folded business cards - twice the room, the same convenient format

A classic business card is quite enough when you need to give a name, a phone number and a few basic details. The problem comes when you want to add a short offer, a few services, a QR code or information the customer should keep for later.

A folded business card makes that possible without giving up the handy format. Closed it measures 90×50 mm, the standard size that fits comfortably in a wallet or card holder. Opened you get a 90×100 mm surface, and with it far more room for the design. The calculator also offers a 180×50 mm sheet - the same folded size, with the fold running vertically.

Such a card can be an ordinary business card and a small information folder at the same time. It works well in beauty salons, surgeries, at hairdressers and photographers, in restaurants, hotels, law firms, with advisers and in local service businesses - particularly where a customer will find something more than a phone number useful after a meeting.

More surface, more possibilities

Opened out, you do not have to squeeze all the information into one small area. The parts of the design can serve different purposes, and content can be organised so that it is easy to come back to.

A folded business card can carry:

  • An extended offer - a short description of services, the scope of your work or a small price list.
  • A QR code - leading to a website, a Google business profile, a portfolio, a contact form or a map.
  • A loyalty or stamp card - with space for stamps and short promotion rules.
  • An appointment card - with space for the date, time and the name of the specialist.
  • A discount card or mini voucher - with a discount code and information about the promotion.
  • A map, opening hours or social media - additional information a customer may want to hand.

One folded card can therefore replace several separate pieces of material while staying small enough to keep conveniently.

Creasing - even, neat folding

Before folding we crease the card, that is make a precise groove where the fold will be.

That matters particularly with the stiff papers used for business cards. The crease marks the fold line and makes it easier to fold the card evenly at exactly the right place. It also reduces the risk of the paper cracking and of an uneven fold.

The finished card therefore opens and closes along the planned line, and the fold itself looks far neater.

Papers to choose from

Two stiff papers are available for folded business cards:

  • Coated 350 gsm - a versatile, smooth paper that presents colours well. It suits classic company cards, loyalty cards, discount cards, appointment cards and mini vouchers.
  • Invercote Creato 300 gsm - elegant board with a more presentable character. It suits premium cards, beauty salons, hotels, law firms, photographers, advisers and other brands for which the presentation of the material also matters.

Both variants are in the calculator and you can compare their price for a given run straight away.

Double-sided printing - each part can have its own job

We print folded business cards always double-sided, in full colour.

Thanks to the folded construction the parts of the design can be used in different ways:

  • The front - a logo, a name, the company name or the main message.
  • The inside, once opened - a description of services, a small price list, space for stamps, a discount code or an appointment schedule.
  • The back - contact details, a QR code, a website address, social media or a map.

This layout lets you separate the information and keep it legible instead of putting everything on one side of a classic card.

Finishing - gloss, matt or Soft Touch film

Folded business cards can be left without extra finishing or laminated on one side or both, depending on the variant chosen.

The options are:

  • No finishing - a simple, practical variant that works particularly well for appointment cards, loyalty cards and other functional designs.
  • Gloss film - strengthens colours and adds shine to the surface. It suits photographs, stronger graphics and designs with a more promotional character.
  • Matt film - gives a calm, restrained look and limits reflections. It goes well with company, legal, minimalist and more presentable cards.
  • Soft Touch velvet film - creates a soft surface that is pleasant to the touch. It suits cards for beauty salons, hotels, advisers, photographers, designers and other brands with a more elegant character.

Film changes the look and feel of a card and additionally protects its surface from scratching.

If the card is above all functional - for writing down appointments or collecting stamps, say - you can stay with the version without finishing.

The available variants and their effect on the price are shown directly in the calculator.

No finished artwork? We can help

With your order you choose one of three ways of preparing the file:

  • No checking - for agencies, designers and people confident that the artwork was correctly prepared for printing and folding. The file goes straight into production.
  • File checking by a graphic designer - we check the format, bleed, safe distances from the trim and fold lines, the quality of graphics, the colour and the way the file is saved. The check covers the technical side, not the content. The correctness of contact details and the other texts remains the customer's responsibility.
  • Simple graphic design - if you have no finished graphics, send a logo, details, texts and basic guidance. We will prepare a simple, legible card matched to the folded format.

A technical check can be particularly useful if the artwork was prepared in Canva, an online generator or an office editor. Such files can have problems with bleed, the format, the fold line or embedded fonts.

How to prepare the print file

With a folded business card it is best to start the design by downloading the technical specification and the right template. You have to plan not only the format and bleed but also the fold position and the layout of the outside and inside of the card.

Best send a PDF prepared in line with the specification, in CMYK. Photographs and graphics should be at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale.

Keep important elements such as a logo, a phone number or a QR code away from the fold line. Placing them right at the fold can reduce legibility or spoil the look of the design once folded.

If graphics run to the edge, allow for suitable bleed as well. More information about preparing artwork correctly is in the section on print files.

FAQ

Folded business cards - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

What are folded business cards?

They are cards measuring 90×100 mm before folding, which once folded have the classic 90×50 mm format. Opened out they give more room for an offer, a QR code, space for stamps, a price list or additional contact information.

How do they differ from classic business cards?

A classic business card is a single, flat card. A folded card has an additional surface when opened, so information can be divided between the outside and the inside. If you do not need the extra room, look at classic business cards.

What is the format of a folded business card?

Before folding the card measures 90×100 mm, and after folding 90×50 mm. Closed it therefore stays handy and has the format typical of a classic business card, while opened it gives twice the surface.

What is creasing and why is it used?

Creasing means making a precise groove where the fold will be. Stiff board then folds more easily along exactly the intended line, and the risk of unsightly cracking and an uneven fold is lower.

Are folded business cards printed on both sides?

Yes. We always print folded business cards double-sided, in full colour. That lets you use the outer surface as well as the inside seen once the card is opened.

Which paper should I choose for a folded business card?

The options are Coated 350 gsm and Invercote Creato 300 gsm. Coated 350 gsm is a stiff, versatile paper suitable for classic company designs. Invercote Creato 300 gsm has a more elegant, presentable character.

Can folded business cards be laminated?

Yes. You can leave them without extra finishing or choose gloss, matt or Soft Touch velvet film. Lamination can be applied on one side or both, depending on the variant chosen.

When should I choose gloss film and when matt?

Gloss film works well with intense colours, photographs and stronger graphics, because it emphasises colour and adds shine. Matt film gives a calmer, restrained effect with no strong reflections and suits company, minimalist and more elegant designs.

When should I choose Soft Touch film?

Soft Touch is worth choosing when the feel of the card also matters. The film creates a soft, velvety surface and suits beauty salons, hotels, law firms, photographers, advisers, designers and other brands with a more presentable character.

Lamination on one side or both?

One-sided lamination works if you mainly want to finish the principal side of the card, for example the front with the logo. The double-sided variant gives a uniform finish across the whole card. Both possibilities, depending on the available variant, are chosen in the calculator.

What can folded business cards be used for?

They can serve as business cards with an extended offer, loyalty and discount cards, mini vouchers, appointment cards, stamp cards, service cards, small price lists, mini folders and cards with a QR code.

Is a folded business card suitable as a loyalty card?

Yes. The part visible once opened can hold space for stamps, the rules of a promotion or information about a reward. One card can therefore act as a business card and a loyalty programme at the same time.

Can a QR code go on it?

Yes. A QR code can lead to a website, a Google business profile, a portfolio, a contact form, a social media profile or a map. It should be a suitable size, have good contrast and sit a safe distance from the edge and the fold line.

Can important elements sit at the fold line?

Better to avoid that. A logo, a phone number, a QR code and other important or small elements should sit a suitable distance from the fold. Folding can affect their look and legibility, so it is safer to leave a free margin there.

I don't have finished artwork - what then?

With your order you can choose one of three options: send the file without checking, order a technical check by a graphic designer, or ask us to prepare a simple design. In the last case you only need to send a logo, details, texts and basic guidance on the look.
