CD and DVD discs - still a relevant medium

Streaming may dominate, but physical media still has its uses: audiobooks, collector music editions, training programmes, company archives, presentations for trades where internet access is limited (medicine, the courts, archives).

Drukarnia Promedia produces:

  • Factory replication (from 100 pieces, worth it from 500) - the standard industrial method; the unit price falls as the run grows.
  • Digital duplication (from 10 pieces, worth it from 100) - data is written onto ready CD-R or DVD-R discs, so the full replication process is not needed. Good for short runs, test editions and single events.
  • CMYK offset printing - the full colour range on the surface of the disc.
  • Printing plus Pantone - when a brand has a specific colour.

Capacities

| Medium | Capacity | Typical use | | --- | --- | --- | | CD | 700 MB / 80 min audio | Music, audiobook | | DVD-5 | 4.7 GB | SD film, multimedia | | DVD-9 (DL) | 8.5 GB | Long film, games |

Packing

  • Paper sleeve with a window - the cheapest, for test audiobooks.
  • Plastic sleeve with a flap - light protection, also with an adhesive strip.
  • Card sleeve - stiffer than paper, also available in eco Kraftliner and decorative versions.
  • SLIM case with covers - a thin plastic case, low price, a good compromise.
  • CD-Box case with covers - the classic CD/DVD case with a booklet.
  • Digipack 4P/6P/8P - premium card packaging (see: /en/digipack/).

Lead time

Typically 3-10 working days from the start of production, depending on the product. The calculator on the product page shows the exact lead time for the options you pick - finishing or personalisation can extend it. Production starts once we have everything: a correct file, your approval of the proof where required, the payment recorded, and for disc replication and duplication the source material delivered.

Printed CD/DVD - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

What is replication and what is duplication?

Replication - factory production from a glass master. The minimum run is 100 pieces, but it pays off from 500 pieces upwards - the unit price drops as the run grows on large series. Duplication - digital burning onto blank CD-R/DVD-R discs. The minimum run is 10 pieces and it pays off from 100 - faster and more sensible on short series.

What disc capacities do you offer?

CD: 700 MB / 80 min audio. DVD: 4.7 GB single layer, 8.5 GB dual layer (DL).

Can you work from my ISO file?

Yes - we accept ISO and IMG images and recorded masters. For audio CDs - a WAV file with a cuesheet, or a finished master plus DDP.

What is the minimum print run?

Replication: 100 pieces (worth it from 500). Duplication: 10 pieces (worth it from 100). For packages that include packaging the minimum depends on the type of packaging - the calculator gives it.

How long does production take?

The calculator shows the lead time once you pick the options. Replication takes longer than duplication, because it covers master preparation, production at the factory and delivery. For some replication orders an express mode may be available for an extra charge.
