UCA3 USB drive - product details

UCA3 USB drive - A small brushed steel drive with a built-in carabiner and no separate cap. 32 GB capacity, fast USB 3.2 gen.1 interface and a USB-A connector. Personalised with durable laser engraving on one or both sides. A practical carrier for conferences, training, sales meetings and company gifts - clip it to keys, a lanyard or a bag, and we can load your material onto it before dispatch.

Pendrive UCA3 - one version, no capacity to decide on

With many drives the first question is whether to take 16, 32, 64 GB or more. The UCA3 keeps it simple: one capacity, 32 GB.

That is a sensible figure for typical company use. It holds presentations, catalogues, documentation, photographs, training material or a set of films - and there is no need to vary capacity within a single order.

The UCA3 uses USB 3.2 gen.1, on a bus supporting up to 5 Gb/s, so larger files copy considerably faster than over USB 2.0. Actual speed depends on the memory used and on the computer the drive is connected to.

Steel casing with a carabiner

The casing is brushed steel.

Instead of a classic cap, the UCA3 has a built-in carabiner. Clip it straight onto keys, a lanyard or a loop in a bag, and the drive stays to hand. There is also no separate cover to pull off and keep track of.

At about 41×15×6 mm and roughly 8 g, it is small enough not to weigh down keys or a lanyard.

Where it fits

Conferences and trade fairs, carrying a presentation, offer, catalogue or a full set of delegate material - and clipping straight onto a lanyard; company gifts, where brushed steel and a plain engraving give a quiet, businesslike result; photography and video, where 32 GB carries a larger set of photographs, a reportage or finished footage to the client; sales material - catalogues, price lists, specifications and documentation always to hand for a representative or distributor; and onboarding and training.

Laser engraving

We mark the UCA3 with laser engraving. The laser works directly on the metal surface, so no extra printed layer is added that could peel or rub away.

Two options:

  • one-sided engraving - a logo, company name or short line on one face,
  • two-sided engraving - for example a logo on one side and a web address, slogan or contact details on the other.

Engraving is single-colour and suits brushed steel well. With a simple logotype it gives a discreet, legible result without needing additional colours.

Capacity and interface

One memory configuration:

  • 32 GB - for presentations, documents, photographs, catalogues and typical company material.

The interface is USB 3.2 gen.1 with a classic USB-A connector.

The standard is backwards compatible with older USB 2.0: plugged into such a port the drive works normally, but the transfer is limited to what the older interface allows. In a USB 3.x port the faster bus can be used in full.

Preloading data

The drives can be prepared with content already on them. Before dispatch we can load onto each one:

  • a presentation,
  • a product catalogue,
  • a price list,
  • documents,
  • photographs,
  • training material,
  • video,
  • any other files supplied with the order.

The recipient then gets a drive ready to use the moment it is plugged in.

Packaging

Packaging can be matched to how the drive will be handed over: a conference set looks different from a client gift, which looks different again from an onboarding pack. We select from the available versions for each order.

Preparing the engraving file

Send the logo as vector graphics, for example:

  • PDF,
  • SVG,
  • EPS.

The artwork should be single-colour, because engraving reproduces the shape of the mark rather than its colours. Prepare it in black, without halftones or greyscale, and convert all text to curves.

If you only have a raster file, send it at the highest resolution you have. We will check whether it can be used and suggest the best way to prepare the mark.

FAQ

UCA3 USB drive - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

How does the UCA3 differ from your other drives?

Mainly in construction and in how simple the configuration is. The UCA3 has a brushed steel casing with a built-in carabiner, so it clips to keys or a lanyard, and there is no separate cap to lose. One capacity is available - 32 GB - with a fast USB 3.2 gen.1 interface and engraving on one or two sides. On a larger order that means the whole run can be identical, with no need to pick different memory versions for different recipients.

What is the difference between one-sided and two-sided engraving?

With one-sided engraving the mark goes on a single face of the casing, most often a logo or company name. The two-sided version uses the second surface as well - for a web address, a short slogan or contact details. The technique is the same in both cases: the mark is made directly on the metal surface and stands up to everyday use.

Will USB 3.2 gen.1 work in an older USB port?

Yes. USB 3.2 gen.1 is backwards compatible with older USB ports. Plugged into USB 2.0 the drive works, but at the speed the older standard allows. In a USB 3.x port the faster interface can be used in full. The UCA3 has a classic USB-A connector, so it fits computers with that port.

Can you load our files before dispatch?

Yes. We can copy a presentation, catalogue, documents, photographs, video or any other material you supply onto the drives, so the recipient gets them ready to use from the first connection.

How should the logo be prepared for engraving?

Send it as a vector file - PDF, SVG or EPS. The artwork should be single-colour, ideally black, without greyscale, and all text converted to curves. If you only have a JPG or PNG, send it at the best quality you have; we will check whether it can be used and whether a vector version needs preparing before engraving.
