Tags & hangtags - product details
Tags & hangtags - Swing tags are small die-cut tags and labels that mark a product and build the brand at the same time. They suit clothing, jewellery, cosmetics, candles, handmade goods and gifts. Choose the shape, paper, printing and finish, and the current price appears straight away in the online calculator.
What printed swing tags are
Swing tags are small printed items that can be hung on a product or attached to it. Despite the small format they can do several jobs at once. They help mark the goods, pass on the information the customer needs and make the product look more professional.
A well designed tag can describe the product, strengthen recognition of the brand and make the range easier to organise. It can be plain and practical, carrying a logo, a price and a product code, or a more elegant, decorative part of how the product is presented. The final effect depends on the shape, paper, printing and finish you choose.
Die-cutting and shapes
Our tags are die-cut, that is cut out with a cutting die. That gives a precise, repeatable shape and, depending on the pattern, the holes or slits used to thread a cord, hang the tag on the product or attach earrings.
Die-cutting is exactly what sets tags like these apart from ordinary rectangular labels. When preparing the design, though, you have to allow for the shape of the die. Important text, logos, codes and other key elements should sit a suitable distance from the cutting line, the holes and the slits.
Uses - what swing tags suit
Swing tags can be used anywhere a product needs marking, a short description or an attractive finishing touch. They are most often used on:
- clothing - in boutiques, fashion brands, showrooms and seasonal collections, to give the size, the price, the fabric composition or care information,
- jewellery - as jewellery tags and earring tags, used in shops, at fairs and in online stores,
- handmade goods - on candles, cosmetics, ceramics, decorations and local products,
- gifts - as gift notes, tags for bouquets or markings for gift sets,
- online sales - as an attractive addition to a parcel that helps with the first impression when the box is opened.
Depending on the design, a tag can be a hanging label with a logo and price, a small product card, a note about the item being handmade, or the carrier for a QR code leading to a shop, a catalogue or further information.
Formats and shapes
The calculator offers 21 die-cut patterns. You will see the full list with exact dimensions when you choose the format. The range includes:
- small and round tags (for instance A01 44×66 mm, A02 50×50 mm and circles 50 mm across) - a good fit for jewellery, candles, cosmetics and other small products,
- series B product tags (rectangular, from about 50×85 to 70×105 mm) - more room for a description, price, composition, product code or logo; often used on clothing, accessories and gift sets,
- jewellery tags (B15, 45×110 mm) - a slim format for the collection name, the hallmark or the model number,
- earring tags (B16 50×90 mm, B17 60×80 mm) - made with presenting and displaying jewellery in mind,
- a heart-shaped tag (B18, 70×70 mm) - a decorative version suited to wedding, Valentine's and gift products.
When choosing the format, it helps to consider the size of the product itself and how much information has to go on the tag. One format suits a small logo and a price; another is right when the tag is to work as a small product card.
Papers
We print tags on stiffer papers and boards that show the print well and stand up to daily use:
- Coated 250 gsm - the practical option for product, promotional and information tags, including larger runs,
- Coated 350 gsm - noticeably stiffer, good for clothing, company, gift and handmade product tags,
- Invercote Creato 300 gsm - a high quality board with an elegant surface and very good detail reproduction, suited to premium and jewellery tags,
- Arktika GC1 board 300 gsm - a stiff board for company, product and practical tags.
Printing
Tags can be printed on one side or on both.
- Single-sided printing is enough if all the key information fits on one side, for instance a logo, the product name, the price or a QR code.
- Double-sided printing gives more room and lets you separate the image side from the practical one. The front can carry the logo, artwork or the name of the brand or collection. The back can take the price, composition, size, product code, care instructions, a barcode, a QR code or social media details.
On small formats legibility matters especially. Text, prices and codes need a suitable size and contrast. If there is too much information, a small tag quickly becomes hard to read.
Finishing
Tags can be left without any extra finish or covered with film, which changes the look of the surface and makes it more durable.
Your choices are:
- no finishing - the practical, economical option for simple tags and larger runs,
- gloss lamination - lifts colours and contrast for a bolder effect; it suits colourful, promotional and cosmetic tags,
- matte lamination - gives a calmer, elegant surface; often chosen for clothing, company and minimalist tags,
- soft-touch lamination - creates a soft surface that is pleasant to the touch and gives the tag a premium character; it can suit jewellery, elegant products and gift sets.
Lamination can be applied to one side or both. Bear in mind that film can make writing on the surface of the tag harder. If you plan to add the price, the size or other information by hand, it is worth allowing for that before choosing the finish.
What to put on a tag
A tag can carry the logo and brand name, the name of the product or collection, the price, size, fabric composition, care instructions, a product code, a barcode, a QR code, a website address, social media details, a "handmade" or "eco" marking, and a short thank-you to the customer.
It is worth separating the image information from the practical. The logo and brand name should stay clearly visible, but the legibility of things like the price, the barcode and the QR code matters just as much.
On clothing, tags often carry the size and composition. On jewellery it may be the collection name, the hallmark or the model number. On handmade products a small tag can work as a mini product card or a simple certificate.
File preparation - the die, the holes and the check
The design is best sent as a PDF prepared to our specification. We also accept good quality JPG or PNG files. Photographs should be at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale, and the design prepared in CMYK.
If the artwork runs to the edge of the tag, add bleed. Text, logos and other important elements have to be moved away from the edges, the holes, the slits and the lines of the die. With non-standard shapes, use the right template or cutting die. On jewellery tags and the versions meant for earrings you also have to watch the position of the slits and the space needed to attach the product.
When you place the order you can choose one of three file preparation options:
- no file check - for agencies, designers and anyone confident the design is technically correct; the file goes into production without further control,
- file check by a designer - we check the technical preparation of the file, including the format, bleed, image quality, CMYK colours and the things specific to tags such as the shape, the die, the cutting lines and the holes; we particularly recommend this option for designs made in Canva or with AI tools,
- simple graphic design - the answer for anyone without a file ready; you send us your logo, the text and the product details, and we prepare a design matched to the tag version you chose.
The check by a designer covers technical matters, not whether the content is correct. We do not check prices, compositions, codes, legal markings or other factual details. The customer is responsible for their accuracy, so all the information should be checked carefully before the design is sent.
You can see the finished configuration and the price of the order in the online calculator. Choose the shape, paper, printing, finish and run size, and the quote appears straight away.

What are printed swing tags?
They are small die-cut printed items used to mark products, including clothing, jewellery, packaging, handmade goods and gifts. A tag can carry a logo, a price, a product description, the composition, a QR code, a barcode or any other information you need.
How many tag shapes are there to choose from?
The calculator offers 21 die-cut patterns. They include small rectangular and square tags, round tags, the larger series B product formats, jewellery tags, versions for earrings and a heart-shaped tag. The full list with dimensions is available when you choose the format.
Which papers are available?
There are four materials: coated 250 gsm, coated 350 gsm, Invercote Creato 300 gsm and Arktika GC1 board 300 gsm. These are stiff papers and boards suited to product tags.
Which paper should I choose?
Coated 250 gsm is a good choice for practical product tags. Coated 350 gsm is stiffer and more distinguished. Invercote Creato 300 gsm suits premium and jewellery tags. Arktika GC1 board 300 gsm works for company and product tags.
Can tags be printed on both sides?
Yes. Single-sided and double-sided printing are both available. In the double-sided version the front can carry the logo and artwork, and the back the price, composition, size, instructions, a QR code or contact details.
Can tags be laminated?
Yes. Tags can be left without any extra finish or covered with gloss, matte or soft-touch film. Lamination can be applied to one side or both.
Which lamination should I choose?
Gloss film strengthens colours and contrast. Matte gives a calmer, more elegant surface. Soft touch is soft and pleasant to the touch, which is why it often suits premium, clothing, jewellery, cosmetic and gift tags.
Can you write on laminated tags?
Film can make writing on the surface, stamping and adding a price, size or product number by hand harder. If the tags are going to be filled in by hand, it is worth taking that into account before choosing the finish.
Are tags suitable for clothing?
Yes. They are widely used by boutiques, showrooms, online shops and fashion brands, including for seasonal collections. A tag can carry the logo, size, price, composition, care instructions or product code.
Are tags suitable for jewellery?
Yes. The range includes jewellery tags and earring tags. They can be used to present jewellery and to show the price, the collection name, the hallmark, the model number or the brand details.
Can a QR code go on a tag?
Yes. A QR code can lead to the product page, an online shop, a catalogue, social media or a review page. On small tags especially it should be a suitable size and have good contrast.
Can a barcode go on a tag?
Yes. You just have to take care over the size, contrast and quality of the code so that it can be read correctly by a scanner once printed.
Do tags require a cutting die?
Yes. Tags are die-cut, so the design should be prepared to the right template or cutting die. You have to allow for the cutting lines, the holes, the slits and the rounded corners, and place the important elements of the design a safe distance from the edge.
Can I prepare the design in Canva?
Yes, but with a design like that it is worth choosing the technical check by a designer. Files prepared in Canva, online generators and AI tools may need checking for fit to the die, bleed, CMYK colours, resolution and safe margins.
Do I have to watch the text on small tags?
Yes. Text, prices, QR codes, barcodes and product numbers have to be large enough and have the right contrast. Elements that are too small can be hard to read once printed. If there is a lot of content, a larger format or double-sided printing is worth considering.
