Eco bookmarks - product details
Eco bookmarks - EKO bookmarks printed to your own design are made on natural papers with a colour of their own and a texture you can feel. The classic 200×50 mm format is available, with single or double-sided printing and eight paper versions in different shades and weights. You choose the run size, the paper and the printing in the online calculator, and the price appears straight away.
EKO bookmarks printed to your own design
A bookmark is a small addition, but it can stay with the recipient for a long time. It goes between the pages of a book and comes back into the hand every time someone picks the book up again. A logo, a quotation, a QR code or a website address can therefore be seen many times over, not just for a moment when it changes hands.
In the EKO version the paper itself plays an extra part. Instead of a smooth white stock you get a material with a natural shade, a structure of its own and a distinctive surface. Even a simple design can look interesting as a result, without a lot of decoration.
EKO bookmarks suit bookshops, libraries, publishers, schools, cultural institutions, online shops and handmade brands. You set the paper, the printing and the run size directly in the calculator.
What you can use EKO bookmarks for
Bookmarks are light, easy to hand out and simple to add to a book or a parcel. Because they have a practical use, the recipient can keep using them for many weeks.
They work as:
- an addition to books slipped into orders from a bookshop,
- material supporting reading and library campaigns,
- an item handed out at book fairs, author meetings and literary events,
- a bookmark with a QR code, a discount code, a quotation or a short line,
- a keepsake from an event, or an occasional or festive design.
The 200×50 mm format
We make EKO bookmarks in one classic format:
- 200×50 mm
It is a slim size that sits comfortably between the pages of a book while leaving room for a logo, an illustration, a quotation, a QR code, a website address or a short line.
On such a narrow surface a simple composition works best. A legible typeface, short text, one clear graphic motif and suitable margins usually give a better result than a lot of small elements.
On natural papers, contrast matters especially too. The design should allow for the actual colour of the stock chosen.
EKO papers - eight natural stocks
We print the bookmarks on eight papers with a natural, eco-friendly or decorative character:
- Kraftliner 300 gsm
- Kazan ecru 250 gsm with grass fibre
- Kazan ecru 300 gsm with grass fibre
- Flora Avorio 240 gsm
- Flora Giglio 240 gsm
- Flora Tabacco 240 gsm
- Flora Giglio 350 gsm
- Flora Tabacco 350 gsm
Each of these stocks has its own shade and character, so it is worth matching the paper to the particular design.
Kraftliner 300 gsm
A natural brown paper with a distinctly kraft look.
It suits rustic, eco, handmade and literary designs. It looks best with simple typography, strong contrast and a clear print.
Kazan ecru 250 gsm and 300 gsm with grass fibre
Warm ecru papers with visible grass fibre. They have a natural, organic look that goes well with eco, educational or local themes.
The Kazan 300 gsm version is stiffer and gives a more solid result than the 250 gsm one.
Flora Avorio 240 gsm
A light, delicate paper with an elegant character.
It works well on minimalist, bookshop, publishing and company designs, especially where you want calm colours and legible typography.
Flora Giglio 240 gsm and 350 gsm
A light, natural stock with a fairly versatile character. It suits bookmarks that should keep an eco look while staying visually light and legible.
The Flora Giglio 350 gsm version is thicker and more solid in the hand.
Flora Tabacco 240 gsm and 350 gsm
Darker, bolder papers that suit artistic, boutique and more distinguished designs.
On this stock, contrast matters especially. Larger text, legible typography and clear QR codes work better than very subtle lines or small details.
Single or double-sided printing
EKO bookmarks can be ordered in two versions:
- Single-sided printing - the full-colour print is on one side. It is a good answer for a simple design with a logo, an illustration, a quotation, a QR code or a website address.
- Double-sided printing - the print is on both sides. One surface can be more graphic and the other informative, for instance with contact details, a discount code, social media or news of an event.
In the double-sided version it is worth planning both sides as one consistent whole.
A natural effect instead of film
We do not laminate EKO bookmarks.
In this version the paper itself is responsible for the look and character of the finished product. Its colour, structure, weight and surface are clearly visible and can be felt in the hand. Gloss, matte or soft-touch film would change exactly those qualities.
At the same time, remember that the natural colour of the paper affects the print. Colours can look warmer, calmer and less intense than on white coated stock.
When designing, it is therefore worth:
- using clear contrast,
- avoiding very small text,
- limiting thin lines and delicate ornaments,
- being careful with very light colours on kraft and darker papers,
- matching the colours of the design to the particular stock.
What to put on a bookmark
On a 200×50 mm surface, one clear motif and short, easily visible content work best.
On a bookmark you can put:
- the logo of a company, bookshop, library or publisher,
- artwork or an illustration,
- a literary quotation,
- a QR code leading to a website, a shop or social media,
- contact details,
- opening hours,
- a discount code,
- a promotional line,
- a thank-you to the customer,
- news of an event,
- news of a competition.
On such a slim format it is not worth cramming in a lot of content. Short text, a legible logo and one clearly visible QR code usually work better than an elaborate composition with many small elements.
For bookshops, libraries and publishers
Natural bookmarks suit places connected with books. You can slip them into publications people buy or hand them out at author meetings, launches, competitions or fairs.
- Bookshops - a practical addition to an order that the customer can use straight away while reading.
- Libraries - room for a quotation, opening hours, a QR code leading to the online catalogue or news of a book club.
- Publishers - material promoting a new publication, a series, an author or a pre-order. Natural paper goes especially well with books on nature, art or local themes.
EKO bookmarks as an addition to parcels
A bookmark can also be a practical addition to mail orders. It works in online bookshops, publishers, gift shops and handmade brands.
Instead of an ordinary leaflet the customer receives something they can use later. You can put a thank-you for the order, a discount code, a QR code leading to your shop or an invitation to a loyalty scheme on it.
Natural paper also goes well with kraft packaging, wrapping paper and a simple, minimalist brand identity.
How to prepare the file, and the check
The design is best prepared as a PDF that follows our specification. We also accept good quality JPG and PNG files.
Photographs and artwork should be at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale, and the design prepared in CMYK.
If a background or artwork runs to the edge, add the right amount of bleed. Move the logo, text, QR code and other important elements away from the cutting line.
When you place the order you choose one of three options:
- No file check - for agencies, designers and anyone confident the design is technically correct. The file goes straight into production.
- File check by a designer - we check the format, bleed, safe distances, image quality, colours and how the file was saved. On EKO bookmarks we also check the legibility of small text, the quality of the QR codes and the contrast of the design on natural paper.
- Simple graphic design - if you have no file ready, send us your logo, the text, a quotation, a QR code, contact details and your guidelines on colour. We will prepare a simple design matched to the 200×50 mm format, the EKO paper and the printing you chose.
The technical check can be particularly useful if the design was made in Canva, an online generator or with AI tools.
The check does not cover the content. We do not check typos, whether quotations are accurate, copyright or whether links work. Those are the customer's responsibility.
If the bookmark carries a QR code, prepare it at a suitable size and with good contrast. Before sending the file, check that it scans properly.
You choose the paper, printing, run size and file preparation option directly in the online calculator.
Eco bookmarks - questions and answers
Need help? Contact us
What are EKO bookmarks?
They are bookmarks printed on papers with a natural, eco-friendly or decorative character. They can serve as an addition to a book, promotional material, a library, bookshop, educational or company bookmark. Their look comes largely from the paper itself, its colour, texture and surface.
What format are EKO bookmarks?
One classic format is available, 200×50 mm. It is a slim size that sits comfortably between the pages of a book while leaving room for a logo, an illustration, a quotation, short text or a QR code.
Which EKO papers are there to choose from?
Eight papers are available: Kraftliner 300 gsm, Kazan ecru 250 gsm with grass fibre, Kazan ecru 300 gsm with grass fibre, Flora Avorio 240 gsm, Flora Giglio 240 gsm, Flora Tabacco 240 gsm, Flora Giglio 350 gsm and Flora Tabacco 350 gsm. You will find all the versions in the online calculator.
Which EKO paper should I choose?
Kraftliner 300 gsm suits kraft, rustic and natural designs. Kazan with grass fibre works on pieces with a more organic or educational character. Flora Avorio and Flora Giglio are lighter and calmer, while Flora Tabacco has a darker, more decisive look.
Does the colour of the paper affect the print?
Yes. Natural papers have a shade of their own, so colours can look different than on white coated stock. They are often warmer and more muted. For that reason the design should have the right contrast and legible typography matched to the stock chosen.
Can EKO bookmarks be printed on both sides?
Yes. Single-sided and double-sided printing are both available. You can use the second side for a QR code, contact details, a quotation, a discount code or information about a library, bookshop, publisher or event.
Can film or another finish be chosen in the EKO version?
No. We do not laminate EKO bookmarks with gloss, matte or soft-touch film. In this category the effect comes from the natural paper, its colour, texture and surface, so we leave them without any extra coating.
Are EKO bookmarks suitable for bookshops and libraries?
Yes. They work well in bookshops, libraries, publishers, schools and cultural institutions, and in campaigns promoting reading. You can add them to books people buy or hand them out at events.
Can EKO bookmarks be added to parcels?
Yes. They are a practical addition to orders in online bookshops, publishers, stationery shops, handmade brands and other mail order businesses. The customer can use a bookmark far longer than an ordinary leaflet.
Can a QR code go on a bookmark?
Yes. A QR code can lead to a website, a shop, a catalogue, an online library, a promotion, an event or a social media profile. It should be a suitable size and have clear contrast. Before sending the design it is also worth checking that it scans properly.
Can colourful designs be printed on kraft paper?
Yes, but the natural colour of Kraftliner affects the look of the print. Colours can be warmer and less intense than on white paper. Clear, contrasting elements, simple typography and artwork that is not too complicated work best.
Are EKO bookmarks a good promotional item?
Yes. A bookmark has a practical use and can be used again and again while reading, so the brand stays visible for a long time. Natural paper also suits companies that want to underline a calm, eco or craft-like character.
Can I prepare the design in Canva?
Yes. With a design from Canva, though, the technical check by a designer is worth considering. Files from Canva, online generators, office programs or AI tools may need the format, bleed, CMYK, resolution or contrast on the EKO paper chosen corrected.
What does the file check by a designer cover?
The designer checks the technical preparation of the design: the format, bleed, safe distances, image quality, colours and how the file was saved. On EKO bookmarks we also check the legibility of small text, the quality of the QR codes and the contrast on natural paper. The check does not cover the content, that is typos, the accuracy of quotations, copyright, contact details or whether links work. Those are the customer's responsibility.
I have no design - will you prepare one for me?
Yes. Choose the simple graphic design option and send us your logo, the text, a quotation, artwork, a QR code, contact details and your guidelines on colour. We will prepare a simple design matched to the 200×50 mm format, the EKO paper and the printing you chose.
