Pendrive UNO - plain outside, fast inside

The name fits. The UNO has a casing made as a single piece of brushed steel, with no decorative covers, coloured panels or plastic parts to change the character of the form.

The silhouette is slim and spare: a USB connector without a separate cap at one end, a large round eyelet for keys or a lanyard at the other.

A minimalist form does not mean basic specifications. The UNO uses USB 3.2 gen.1, on a bus supporting up to 5 Gb/s. With large photo folders, video or design files, the difference against USB 2.0 can be very clear.

Actual read and write speeds depend on the memory used, the capacity and the computer the drive is plugged into.

UNO or Unity?

At first glance the two are very alike. The UNO and the Unity share a slim metal silhouette, a large round eyelet and a connector without a removable cap. The important difference is inside.

Pendrive Unity

• USB 2.0,
• capacities 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB.

Pendrive UNO

• USB 3.2 gen.1,
• capacities 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB.

If the drive will mainly carry documents, presentations and PDF files, the Unity is enough. For video, large photo libraries, design files or frequent copying, take the UNO.

Where it fits

Agencies and design studios handing over projects, presentations, renders, photographs and source files; technology companies whose own design language is ordered and technical; sales teams carrying large catalogues, technical material, video, CAD files and detailed presentations, where a faster interface simply makes updating easier; conferences and B2B events, as part of a set for delegates, clients or partners; and company sales kits, where up to 256 GB covers a portfolio, case studies, presentations, documentation, photographs and film.

Laser engraving on a metal casing

We mark the UNO with laser engraving. The laser works directly on the metal surface, with no added layer of ink, so the logo is durable and stands up to daily use.

On the plain surface of the UNO, what looks best is:

• minimalist logotypes,
• a company name,
• a short web address,
• a single line of text,
• a simple graphic mark.

Engraving is single-colour - the mark is made by changing the steel surface, not by printing ink.

There is no need to fill the whole available field. A small logo with room to breathe usually suits this casing far better than a large, busy design.

Preparing the engraving file

• a vector PDF,
• vector graphics only,
• monochrome artwork in black,
• no greyscale,
• no shadows or halftones,
• text converted to curves.

The black elements mark the areas to be engraved.

If you are unsure whether a logo is vector, zoom in hard on screen: vector artwork stays sharp at any magnification.

Capacities

• 16 GB - presentations, documents and basic sales material,
• 32 GB - larger catalogues, case studies, photographs and multimedia,
• 64 GB - extensive project and training sets,
• 128 GB - large file libraries and working archives,
• 256 GB - substantial sets of data, photographs, film and design material.

For presentations and documents, 16 or 32 GB is usually enough. If the drive is also to serve as a working archive for a sales team or design studio, 128 or 256 GB gives far more room.

USB 3.2 gen.1

The UNO uses USB 3.2 gen.1, on a bus supporting up to 5 Gb/s, which suits larger files and frequent updates to the contents.

That matters in practice when a large catalogue, a few films or a whole folder of client material has to be swapped quickly before a meeting.

Actual transfer speed also depends on the memory used and on the user's device.
