EKO folded leaflets - a folder with a natural character

EKO folded leaflets combine the function of a practical advertising folder with the distinctive look of natural paper. They let you organise more content while giving the material a more craft, local or boutique look.

You can give each panel a different job. One becomes the cover, another the description of your offer, the next a price list or menu, and the last a map, a QR code or contact details. Folded, the whole piece is still handy, easy to hand out and to put into envelopes, parcels or stands.

A good direction for companies that want to present their offer in a more natural setting. EKO folded leaflets suit hospitality, hotels, tourism, natural cosmetics, craft work, the wedding trade, ecological shops, agritourism farms, florists and brands that value a considered way of communicating.

Double-sided printing and creasing

We print EKO folded leaflets always double-sided, in full colour.

With a folder, using both sides of the sheet gives far more scope. Each panel can have its own function: a cover, a description of the offer, a price list, a photograph, a menu, contact details, a map, a QR code or a short thank-you.

Before folding, the paper is creased. A controlled indentation is made where the fold will be, marking the fold line and making it easier to form the finished folder evenly.

That matters particularly with stiffer papers and higher weights. Creasing helps produce a neat fold and reduces the risk of the surface cracking unattractively where the paper is folded.

Folding variants

More than a dozen layouts are available, from small folded cards to considerably larger folders:

• A5 → A6 and 2×A6 → A6 (landscape) - compact variants for invitations, vouchers, short menus or parcel inserts.
• A4 → A5 - a versatile format giving plenty of room for text and photographs while staying convenient once folded. It works well as a company folder, an information leaflet or an event programme.
• A4 → DL, 2×DL → DL (landscape) and 2×DL → DL (portrait) - slim formats that suit stands, displays and DL envelopes.
• 30×15 → 15×15 and 30×30 → 15×30 - less typical, more design-led layouts for creative, boutique and handmade projects.
• A3 → A4 and A3 → 140×297 - larger variants for fuller offers, menus, product cards and event programmes.
• 2×A5 → A5 (landscape), 2×A4 → A4 (landscape) and 3×A4 → A4 - larger landscape and multi-part folders, suitable for company presentations, price lists and trade fair material.

The notation A4 → DL means an A4 sheet is printed and, once creased and folded, ends up in DL format. The first value is therefore the format before folding and the second the format of the finished piece.

Natural and ecological papers

We print EKO folded leaflets on papers differing in shade, structure and weight. The choice of substrate alone has a big effect on the look of the finished folder.

Kraftliner 120 gsm and 300 gsm

Kraftliner 120 gsm and Kraftliner 300 gsm have a characteristic brown, kraft colour. They suit ecological, craft and local brands and handmade products.

Kraftliner 120 gsm is lighter, while the 300 gsm version gives considerably stiffer, more solid material.

On a brown substrate, designs with strong contrast, dark typography and colours matched to the natural shade of the paper work best.

Kazan ecru with grass fibres

Kazan paper has a warm ecru shade and visible grass fibres. It is available in the weights:

• Kazan ecru 90 gsm with grass fibres
• Kazan ecru 120 gsm with grass fibres
• Kazan ecru 250 gsm with grass fibres
• Kazan ecru 300 gsm with grass fibres

The natural look of this paper suits material connected with healthy food, natural cosmetics, agritourism, craft work and zero-waste brands.

The lighter 90 and 120 gsm variants work for folders meant to be handed out or put into parcels. Kazan 250 and 300 gsm is stiffer and suits menus, vouchers, service cards and more presentable material better.

Flora 130 gsm

For lighter projects there are:

• Flora Avorio 130 gsm
• Flora Anice 130 gsm

These are decorative papers in natural cream and delicately greenish shades. They work well for lighter folders, invitations and thank-you cards.

Flora 240 gsm

For stiffer material you can choose:

• Flora Avorio 240 gsm
• Flora Giglio 240 gsm
• Flora Tabacco 240 gsm

These variants suit sales folders, menu cards and sales material that should look more presentable.

Flora 350 gsm

The heaviest weights are:

• Flora Giglio 350 gsm
• Flora Tabacco 350 gsm

These are solid, stiff papers intended for invitations, vouchers, certificates and image material, among other things.

The higher the weight, the stiffer the paper usually is and the more solid it feels in the hand. The availability of particular papers for a given format and run is shown directly in the calculator.

A natural effect instead of film

In the EKO version we do not use film or additional finishing. That is a deliberate choice, because the greatest advantage of these papers is their natural surface, texture, colour and feel.

Lamination would change the character of the substrate and cover part of its natural features. So we leave the paper without an additional layer.

If you want more solid material, choose a higher weight instead of film - Kraftliner 300 gsm, Kazan 250 or 300 gsm, Flora 240 gsm or Flora 350 gsm.

When designing, remember that the colour of the paper affects the look of the print. A natural, warm, ecru or brown substrate changes how colours read, particularly light and pastel ones.

On EKO papers, legible typography, decisive contrast and graphics matched to the particular paper shade work best. If a design needs a very light background and strong colour reproduction, another paper category is worth considering, such as Prestige folded leaflets.

Preparing the file - three variants

When placing an order you choose one of three ways of preparing the artwork:

• No checking - the file goes straight into production. An option for agencies, designers and people confident that it was correctly prepared both for printing and for later folding.
• File checking by a graphic designer - we check the technical preparation of the artwork: the format, bleed, safe distances from the trim line, preparation for folding, the arrangement of panels, the quality of graphics and the correctness of the saved file. The check does not cover the content, such as typos, prices, dates or whether texts match the offer. That is the customer's responsibility.
• Simple graphic design - if you have no finished file, send texts, a logo, photographs and basic guidance. We will prepare a simple design matched to the format, the folding method and the character of the EKO paper chosen.

Checking can be particularly useful with files prepared in Canva, online generators or AI tools. Such designs sometimes have problems with bleed, the format, page order or the correct arrangement of panels.

How to prepare the print file

Before starting the design, download the technical specification and the template for the chosen variant. With folded leaflets you have to plan not only the trimmed format and bleed but also the crease lines, the fold positions, the order of the panels and the folding direction.

The best format is a PDF prepared in line with our specification. We also accept good quality JPG and PNG files.

Photographs and graphics should be at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale, and the artwork should be prepared in CMYK.

If the background runs to the edge, add bleed. Keep texts, logos, QR codes and other important information away from both the trim line and the crease and fold positions.

With EKO papers, pay additional attention to the contrast of the design. The natural colour of the substrate will be visible in the finished piece and will affect how the printed colours read.
