Business cards that represent a company well

A business card is small, but it is still one of the most practical contact materials there is. You hand it over at a meeting, leave it with a customer after a conversation or add it to other company material. It often ends up in a wallet, a card holder or on a desk, and reminds people of the contact when they need the service again.

The design should therefore be legible above all, and matched to the character of the company. A simple layout can hold a logo, a name, a job title, a phone number, an email address, a website or a QR code without overloading the small surface.

Classic business cards work in practically every trade. They are used by company owners, sales people, advisers, doctors, lawyers, beauticians, hairdressers and photographers, and by restaurants, beauty salons, hotels, law firms and shops.

Two formats to choose from

We print business cards in two popular sizes:

• 90×50 mm - the classic and very frequently chosen format. It has convenient proportions and enough surface for a logo, a name, a job title, a phone number, an email address, a website or a QR code. It suits standard company, service and sales designs.
• 85×55 mm - a format close in proportion to a payment card. It is a little more compact and suits modern, minimalist designs.

Both variants fit comfortably into wallets, cases and card holders.

Papers - classic or more presentable

We print business cards on two kinds of paper:

• Coated 350 gsm - stiff, smooth, versatile paper that reproduces colours well. It suits classic company cards, contact cards, discount cards, small vouchers and information cards.
• Invercote Creato 300 gsm - elegant board with a more presentable character. It suits image cards, beauty salons, law firms, hotels, boutiques and minimalist, more prestigious designs.

If you want a classic solution, Coated 350 gsm is the natural choice. For a more presentable card you can reach for Invercote Creato 300 gsm.

Single- or double-sided printing

You can order business cards in two variants:

• Single-sided printing - all the information is on one side. It works for simple, minimalist designs where there is little data.
• Double-sided printing - gives more freedom in design. On one side you can put a logo and the company name, and on the other the contact details, job title, website, social media, a QR code or a short description of services.

With more information, double-sided printing keeps things orderly and avoids squeezing all the content onto one small area.

Finishing - with or without film

You can leave business cards without extra finishing, or laminate them on one side or both.

The options are:

• No film - a simple variant for standard designs, larger runs and cards aimed above all at a practical function.
• Gloss film - strengthens colours, adds shine and suits photographs, stronger colours and more expressive designs.
• Matt film - gives a calmer, elegant look and limits reflections. It goes well with company, legal, hotel and image cards.
• Soft Touch velvet film - creates a soft surface that is pleasant to the touch. It suits premium cards, beauty salons, luxury brands, advisers, designers and photographers.

The type of finish affects not only how the card looks but also how it feels in the hand when it is handed over.

Preparing the file - choose the right variant

With your order you choose one of three ways of preparing the artwork:

• No checking - the file goes straight into production. A variant for agencies, designers and people confident that it was correctly prepared on the technical side.
• File checking by a graphic designer - we check the format, bleed, safe distances from the trim line, the quality of graphics and the logo, the colour and the way the file is saved. The check does not cover the content, such as typos, phone numbers, email addresses or the other data on the card.
• Simple graphic design - if you have no finished artwork, send a logo, contact details and basic guidance. We will prepare a simple, legible card matched to the chosen format.

A technical check can be particularly useful when the artwork was prepared in Canva, an online generator or an office editor. Such files sometimes have problems with bleed, the format, embedded fonts or the quality of the logo.

How to prepare a good print file

Before starting the design it is worth downloading the technical specification and the template for the chosen format. That makes it easier to set the size, bleed and safe margins correctly.

• File format - best send a PDF in line with the specification. We also accept good quality JPG and PNG.
• Resolution and colours - prepare photographs and graphics at 300 dpi at 1:1 scale, and the whole design in CMYK.
• Bleed - if the background or graphics run to the edge, add a suitable allowance beyond the trim line.
• Safe margins - keep the name, logo, phone number, email address and QR code away from the edge. At such a small format even small variations during cutting are more noticeable.
• Legibility - avoid very small letters, exceptionally thin typefaces and weak contrast. A QR code should be large enough to scan without trouble once printed.
