UDT USB drive - product details

UDT USB drive - A drive with a USB-C 3.2 gen.1 connector, made for current laptops, tablets and phones. Available in 16, 32 and 64 GB, personalised with durable laser engraving on one or both sides. The right choice when your recipients work mainly on newer hardware and you want a drive that plugs straight in, with no adapter.

Pendrive UDT - USB-C for current devices

On many new laptops, tablets and phones the classic USB-A socket has given way to the smaller USB-C. The UDT is built for exactly those devices.

It has a USB-C 3.2 gen.1 connector, so it plugs directly into a compatible phone, tablet or computer. No hunting for an adapter and no sending files through the cloud simply because there is no full-size USB port to hand.

Three capacities are available: 16, 32 and 64 GB, so the same model covers everything from presentations and documents to larger photo sets and video.

The casing carries a distinctive disc available in three colours: red, purple and blue. The body stays metal in every version; the colour is chosen in the calculator.

Where it fits

Creative studios and agencies handing clients designs, renders, photographs and video - especially when the client works mainly on USB-C hardware; technology companies, for modern company sets and partner materials; trade fairs and conferences, where more and more visitors arrive with only an ultrabook, tablet or phone; photography and film, where up to 64 GB carries larger photo sets and finished footage; and corporate gifts, where the metal body and laser engraving give a quiet, technical look.

Laser engraving

We mark the UDT with laser engraving. The laser works directly on the surface of the casing, with no added layer of ink, so the logo is durable and stands up to daily use.

Two options:

  • one-sided engraving - a logo, company name or short line on one face,
  • two-sided engraving - for example a logo on one side and a web address, slogan or contact details on the other.

Engraving is single-colour, so it suits simple marks and typography.

Capacity - 16, 32 or 64 GB?

  • 16 GB - documents, presentations, quotes and basic company materials,
  • 32 GB - larger sets, photographs, catalogues and mixed material,
  • 64 GB - bigger photo shoots, video and more extensive file libraries.

For ordinary presentations and documents, 16 GB is usually ample. 32 GB is the most versatile option; 64 GB is worth taking when large photographs or video are involved.

USB-C 3.2 gen.1

The UDT uses a USB-C 3.2 gen.1 interface. The bus supports up to 5 Gb/s, so copying larger files can be considerably faster than over the older USB 2.0. Real read and write speeds depend on the memory used and on the device the drive is connected to.

If a computer only has an older USB-A socket, a USB-C to USB-A adapter will do the job.

Preloading data

We can load content onto the drives before dispatch - documents, presentations, catalogues, photographs, designs, video or training material. The recipient then gets a drive that is ready to use the moment it is plugged in.

Packaging

Packaging can be matched to how the drive will be used: one option suits conference materials, another a client gift, another a company set. We select from the available versions for each order.

Preparing the engraving file

Send the logo in vector form, for example:

  • PDF,
  • SVG,
  • EPS.

The artwork should be single-colour: the laser reproduces the shape of the mark, not your brand colours. Prepare it in black, without halftones or greyscale, and convert all text to curves.

If you only have a raster file, send it at the highest resolution you have. We will check whether it can be used and how best to prepare it for marking.

Free graphic design

No artwork ready? With an order placed with us we prepare simple engraving artwork free of charge.

Send your logo, preferably in vector form, along with any text that is to appear on the drive.

The first version usually comes within 1-2 working days; each further round of changes adds one working day. Production starts only once the proof is approved.

Quantity and ordering

The minimum order is 50 pieces. The price for the capacity and quantity you choose, and the lead time, are shown by the calculator above.

FAQ

UDT USB drive - questions and answers

Need help? Contact us

How does the UDT differ from your other drives?

The key difference is the USB-C 3.2 gen.1 connector. The UDT plugs straight into compatible laptops, tablets and phones with USB-C, with no adapter needed. Three capacities are available - 16, 32 and 64 GB - so the drive is easy to match to how much material you are handing over.

Which devices take a USB-C connector?

USB-C is used on many current laptops, tablets and phones. If the device supports external storage over USB-C, the UDT connects directly. For an older computer with only USB-A, you will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

Which capacity should I choose - 16, 32 or 64 GB?

For documents, quotes and presentations, 16 GB is usually enough. 32 GB is the versatile middle option when the drive carries documents together with photographs or short video. 64 GB is worth taking for larger photo shoots, video material and more extensive data sets.

Can you load data onto the drives before dispatch?

Yes. We can copy designs, presentations, documents, photographs, video or any other material you send us onto the drives beforehand, so the recipient gets them ready to use from the first connection.

How should the engraving file be prepared?

Send the logo as a vector PDF, SVG or EPS. The artwork should be single-colour, ideally black, without halftones or greyscale, and all text converted to curves. If you only have a JPG or PNG, send it at the best quality you have - we will check whether it can be used and whether a vector version needs preparing before engraving.
